https://twitter.com/cd_hooks/status/631990258620497920 The campaign to repeal the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) became even more vile Thursday night when one of the anti-HERO campaign leaders insisted that gay and transgender people should be forced to leave Houston and even suggested that they face the same destruction the American military inflicted on Nazi Germany. Christopher Hooks at the Texas Observer reported from […]
LGBTQIA+ Rights
In the last decade, the fight for LGBTQIA+ equality has made incredible progress. Marriage equality is now the law of the land and workplace discrimination on the basis of sex includes protections for gender identity and sexual orientation. However, the fight for true LGBTQIA+ equality is far from over. Texas still has no statewide law protecting LGBTQIA+ people from discrimination meaning people can be denied a place to live or refused service at a business simply because of who they are or whom they love.
Today, far-right extremists and politicians continue their attacks on LGBTQIA+ Texans, especially transgender children and adults. Their hate is loud. But our love is louder.
We at TFN will fight for the LGBTQIA+ community at every turn, because our vision is a Texas that’s truly for all.

Paxton’s office had advised Texas […]

The coalition supporting HERO, Houston Unites Against Discrimination, sent out the following release this morning: […]
Houston Pastor: Opposing Discrimination Is ‘What Jesus Calls Me to Do’
With the question of repealing the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) headed to a November ballot, pro-discrimination activists on the religious right are portraying the battle as one against the “presence of evil.” Sadly but predictably, those activists seek once again to use faith as a political weapon to divide Houstonians and promote discrimination — particularly against the LGBT community (even though HERO […]
You Should Read This Because It’s About Beyoncé
Actually, this post has more to do with the great work TFN’s student activists are doing as part of the Texas Rising program, but Beyoncé is a big part of this. She can be an even bigger part of this, a giant part, if she wants to. Beyoncé, if you happen to read this, be […]
