A fiscally conservative leader might be expected to at least stop promoting a policy that’s been such an expensive failure. But apparently not Rick Perry. He has repeatedly chosen to follow the will of the right-wing base of the Republican Party, especially as the party continued to shift further [to the right]. It doesn’t matter that a majority of parents want more than abstinence taught in our schools, and it doesn’t matter what our kids really need to be healthy and responsible.
