Graphic by GLAAD Defeating nearly two dozen discriminatory anti-LGBT bills during the recently concluded session of the Texas Legislature took a lot of hard work from some great groups working outside the Capitol with activists and people like you who care about these things. And it was also the hard work of LGBT-supportive lawmakers working […]
LGBTQIA+ Rights
In the last decade, the fight for LGBTQIA+ equality has made incredible progress. Marriage equality is now the law of the land and workplace discrimination on the basis of sex includes protections for gender identity and sexual orientation. However, the fight for true LGBTQIA+ equality is far from over. Texas still has no statewide law protecting LGBTQIA+ people from discrimination meaning people can be denied a place to live or refused service at a business simply because of who they are or whom they love.
Today, far-right extremists and politicians continue their attacks on LGBTQIA+ Texans, especially transgender children and adults. Their hate is loud. But our love is louder.
We at TFN will fight for the LGBTQIA+ community at every turn, because our vision is a Texas that’s truly for all.

One Final Indignity
Senate Resolution 1028 (click to enlarge) The Texas Legislature will leave town when the session concludes this Monday. Going into the session, TFN and our allies knew we would be on the defensive on several issues. This was especially true on LGBT rights because of the impending U.S. Supreme Court decision, expected next month, that could […]
Houston Passed Landmark Anti-Discrimination Ordinance a Year Ago Today
One year ago today, Houston’s City Council adopted a sweeping civil rights ordinance that bar discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, sex, military status and other characteristics. The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which religious-right groups bitterly oppose, covers discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations. The Texas Freedom Network proudly supported the passage […]
