It’s Past Time to End the Silence about Your Offensive ‘Blood Brother,’ Gov. Abbott

Ted Nugent, the aging right-wing rocker who prominently campaigned with Greg Abbott and calls the Texas governor a “blood brother,” is getting a heap of criticism for a vicious Facebook post on Monday. Nugent’s post, which includes an image apparently used on anti-Semitic websites, calls prominent Jewish Americans “punks” and claims that they “hate freedom” because they support gun safety laws.

Nugent’s post includes photos of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer among others, each photo stamped with an Israeli flag. Nugent’s accompanying rant:

“Know these punks. They hate freedom, they hate good over evil, they would deny us the basic human right to self defense & to KEEP & BEAR ARMS while many of them have tax paid hired ARMED security! Know them well. Tell every1 you know how evil they are. Let us raise maximum hell to shut them down!”

The New York Daily News criticized Nugent’s “wacko” post, calling it “an anti-Semitic message … charging that Jews are trying to take away his precious guns.” The Anti-Defamation League has called on Nugent to remove the image, which it says has appeared on anti-Semitic websites in the past. Other critics made their own objections clear in… Read More

Ted Nugent, the aging right-wing rocker who prominently campaigned with Greg Abbott and calls the Texas governor a “blood brother,” today launched into an especially vicious and seemingly unhinged attack on President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. On his Facebook page, Nugent called for Obama and Clinton to be “tried for treason & hung.” An excerpt:

Our unholy rotten soulless criminal America destroying government killed 4 Americans in Banghazi. Period! What sort of chimpass punk would deny security, turn down 61 requests for security, then tell US forces to STAND DOWN when they were ready to kickass on the allapukes & save American lives! Obama & Clinton, thats who. They should be tried for treason & hung. Our entire fkdup gvt must be cleansed asap.

Unless he gets embarrassed (and how likely is that?) and takes down the post, you can read the full screed here.

Nugent has a long history of making repugnant and incendiary statements. For example, he has called President Obama a “subhuman mongrel” and Hillary Clinton a “toxic c***,” “two-bit whore” and “worthless bitch”. He has also glorified sex with underage girls. But right-wing politicians like Gov. Abbott love campaigning with him.… Read More

Texas state Rep. Bill Zedler, R-Arlington, is upset that rocker Ted Nugent’s racist insults (like “subhuman mongrel”) about President Obama and his equally repugnant attacks on Hillary Clinton  (like “toxic c***,” “two-bit whore” and “worthless bitch”) have made the news.

Now Nugent name calling of Obama gets media hype, but where were they when Bill Mahr called Sarah Palin a vulgar word? MEDIA HYPOCRACY!!

— Bill Zedler (@Bill_Zedler) February 22, 2014

Of course, Zedler is conveniently ignoring the extensive media coverage of Maher’s crude and deeply offensive insult of Palin. He is also ignoring some other important facts. For one thing, President Obama didn’t defiantly campaign with Maher and refer to him as his “blood brother” — as Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott has done with Nugent. Moreover, this isn’t just about the numerous racist, misogynistic, homophobic and other vile insults Nugent has vomited over the years.

Nugent has also bragged about having sex with minors. He has even glorified preying on 13-year-old girls in his music, as the Dallas Morning News points out. The newspaper notes these lyrics to “Nugent’s 1981 paean to sex with underage girls entitled Jailbait”:… Read More
