The Associated Press notes that the religious right is preparing to use the November elections to push a radical legislative agenda in states across the country starting in January. The religious right’s hit list includes women’s reproductive rights, embryonic stem cell research, divorce laws and equal rights for gay and lesbian Americans. The Texas Freedom […]
Reproductive Rights
On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States released a ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. Today, abortion is banned in Texas except under very limited exceptions — and to make things worse, anti-abortion extremists are going after mifepristone, one of the pills used in medication abortion.
While there is much uncertainty about our reproductive rights in post-Roe America, there is one thing we do know: Our fight to make abortion permanently legal, safe, and accessible for everyone cannot and will not stop.
Texas Freedom Network supports efforts to ensure all Texans have access to abortion and other reproductive health care services. That access requires adequate state funding and the broad availability of birth control, especially for underpaid Texans.

American Hate Association?
Sarah Posner writes about the American Family Association, one of the oldest, most influential and most radical of the nation’s religious-right organizations. Founded in 1977 in Mississippi by Don Wildmon, over the years the organization has become increasingly hateful and intolerant — toward non-Christians, political opponents, minorities and even AFA’s own employees, apparently. Excerpt: “(W)hile […]
Ignorance-Only Sex ‘Education’
We reported some good news last week about sex education in Texas: various evidence-based, sex education programs in Texas are getting a total of more than $7.4 million in new federal grants. But there was bad news as well: Texas also got $5.4 million for abstinence-only programs that refuse to teach medically accurate information about […]
