This is what rapidly changing attitudes and a shift toward acceptance and equality across the country, and even in Texas, will (potentially) do to the stridently anti-gay religious right. The San Antonio-Express News is out with a story this week about the Alamo City’s efforts to pass a non-discrimination ordinance that, among other things, says […]
LGBTQIA+ Rights
In the last decade, the fight for LGBTQIA+ equality has made incredible progress. Marriage equality is now the law of the land and workplace discrimination on the basis of sex includes protections for gender identity and sexual orientation. However, the fight for true LGBTQIA+ equality is far from over. Texas still has no statewide law protecting LGBTQIA+ people from discrimination meaning people can be denied a place to live or refused service at a business simply because of who they are or whom they love.
Today, far-right extremists and politicians continue their attacks on LGBTQIA+ Texans, especially transgender children and adults. Their hate is loud. But our love is louder.
We at TFN will fight for the LGBTQIA+ community at every turn, because our vision is a Texas that’s truly for all.

UPDATE, 11:46 a.m.: ExxonMobil shareholders meeting in Dallas have voted against the proposed nondiscrimination policy. The Dallas Voice reports that 81 percent of shareholders voted to reject the resolution. *** Just a week after the Boy Scouts of America decided to stop discriminating against gay youth (but kept the ban on gay scout leaders), some […]
Rick Perry and Louie ‘Terror Babies’ Gohmert Rip Gay Scouts (Duh)
It’s hard to argue that Texas doesn’t have some of the most virulently anti-gay politicians in the nation. Consider, for example, Gov. Rick Perry and Congressman Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert. Our friends at Right Wing Watch have audio clips of both politicians commenting about last week’s decision by the Boy Scouts of America to end […]
