Join Us at the Capitol in Austin on Monday to Stand with Texas Women!

Last Tuesday, all eyes were on Texas as Sen. Wendy Davis and women’s health champions in the Texas Senate stood together to stop harmful legislation from passing. Thanks to your voice and the voices of thousands of people from across the state, women in Texas won! But this fight isn’t over — not by a long shot.

Once again Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst are threatening the health and safety of Texas women by limiting access to safe, legal medical care. Governor Perry has forced yet another special session starting on July 1, and we need to be ready to fight back, to stand strong, to speak out, no matter what.

We must stand together and demand that Texas legislators stop playing politics with women’s health. Speak up now — tell lawmakers to stop interfering with women’s private medical decisions.

Join us from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday on the south steps of the Texas Capitol. Bring water! More info at StandWithTexasWomen.org and at https://www.facebook.com/events/139027312967322/.

  1. I would like to take this opportunity to warn you folks about something. Perry, Dewhurst, etc. are not reasonable men, and they hate you because they think you are enemies of the Lord.

The first attempted March from Selma to Montgomery ended in police violence and attack dogs. I have no trust that these morons are any more capable of restraint than the Montgomery police. I suspect that the upcoming “control the crowd” plans include beating people with night sticks and blackjacks. I would act peacefully (but vocally), alert the news media to the potential for physical violence, and ensure that they are there videotape any police or security force violence of any kind. You will then have all the evidence and ammunition you need to crucify some of these politicians in the national news media and sufficient evidence to send members of the police, and perhaps the overly zealous politicians directing them, to prison.

Demonstrate peacefully and lawfully at all times. Let the other side alone overreact with violence. Than nail their ears to the wall for it in the courts and crucify them in the national and international news media. One can always count on zealots like these to overplay their hands.

  2. I just got back from the rally and it was fine, no one harassed me. One smart aleck guy said “where’s the abortion on demand clinic” and I said, “Right here. I’ll abort you for free.” Everyone around us laughed, he moved on and that was that.
