Rick Perry and Louie ‘Terror Babies’ Gohmert Rip Gay Scouts (Duh)

It’s hard to argue that Texas doesn’t have some of the most virulently anti-gay politicians in the nation. Consider, for example, Gov. Rick Perry and Congressman Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert. Our friends at Right Wing Watch have audio clips of both politicians commenting about last week’s decision by the Boy Scouts of America to end the ban on gay scouts. Part of Gov. Perry’s comments:

“I do think that those on that board made a decision that was driven by political correctness, by money and they will look back on it someday and be held accountable, so that day will come and they will stand before their maker and be accountable for the decisions that they made.”

From Congressman Gohmert’s comments:

“You’re going to allow a situation where a seventeen-year-old guy that’s sexually attracted to other guys gets in a little tent with an eleven-year-old new rookie Boy Scout and they spend the night together, night after night at camp? I mean, come on. I thought we were making progress.”

Check out the rest of their jaw-dropping comments here.

As we’ve said before, some Texas politicians spend a lot of time worrying about the personal lives of other people. If you haven’t already, sign our petition and join thousands of others who want politicians to get out of the business of telling Texans who and how they should love.

  1. Gohmert’s ignorance knows no bounds. I suspect his contribution to Scouting over the years can be summarized in one word: ZERO.

Certainly, his knowledge of the Scouting program and age appropriate behavior is ZERO.

However, the ignoramuses who bleat the loudest are the most ignorant and have contributed the least to the program. To hear Gohmert shrill cry, there are sexual predators lurking in every unit just waiting for the membership policy to change so the BSA can cash in on vast corporate donations.

    Right.

Phooey, Louie, who has never worked on the fundraising side of the BSA where we go out year after year begging for donations to keep the program running. Gohmert also seems to have forgotten (after all, it’s been a few days) that the policy change was voted in by the BSA membership, not donating corporations.

Sorry to cast aspersions but Gohmert, as usual, is talking out of his asparagus.

  2. Terror Babies Gohmert.
If he didn’t exist, someone would have to invent him. He’s a piece of satire on two legs.
