For the second time this year, the House Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence committee will hear bills targeting Muslim Americans with thinly veiled discriminatory legislation:
HB 899 by state Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Frisco, would bar application of foreign laws and foreign forum selection in family law cases in state courts. This appears to be another attempt to promote fear-mongering over the mythical threat of Islamic law (Sharia) in Texas.
HB 3698 by state Rep. Molly White, R-Belton, is a poorly veiled anti-Sharia bill that imposes regulations on nonbinding dispute resolution proceedings conducted by religious organizations.
Call the members of this committee and tell them you oppose these discriminatory bills because:
- The U.S. and Texas Constitutions already prohibit courts from imposing any religious law as civil law.
- The American Bar Association has made clear that bills like these duplicate safeguards already enshrined in federal and state law.
- The Anti-Defamation Defamation League calls bills like these “a form of camouflaged bigotry” that treats “Muslim Americans as foreigners and anti-American crusaders.”
I wonder sometimes if they have ever heard of something called the Constitution? It is the supreme law of the land. Therefore, Sharia law is already prohibited.
Any Muslim that insists on trying to use it should immediately arrested, stripped of their citizenship, if they have one, and sent back to where they came from for breaking the law when they said that they would “I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic…
Get it? THEY have, in order to become a citizen said that they would not use Sharia law.
It is perfectly legal to kick them OUT. But the vast majority of Muslims are happy to be out from the inhumane laws that Sharia metes out.
IF any former citizen breaks that oath, they must be tossed out on their cookies.

Your statement is hateful.
Muslim-hating ranks right up there with bigotry against Blacks or Jews, just plain stupid. Not all Muslims are terrorists and not all terrorists are Muslims. We have plenty of home grown and Christian idiots in this country to prove that. Quit trying to persecute others just for being different. That’s just rude and brainless!
I totally agree with your statement. I’m 1ar generation of Immigrants who were happy to join their families and be part of our beautiful Country. They became citizens and raised 5 children who are proud to be Americans.
It is absolute nonsense to ban something which is already clearly banned by the Constitution.
I wonder if these laws will conflict with the “religious freedom” bills?
Since we as Christians believe in one loving God, what right to we have to discriminate against any of God’s children.
Since we are a nation of immigrants, many of whom came here for religious freedom, how dare we discriminate against a religious group of people?
