This Man Is Vile

One of the reasons abortion continues to be such a divisive issue is rhetoric like the following from Texas congressman Steve Stockman, R-Friendswood. In a press release on Monday, Stockman referred to Kermit Gosnell’s murder and involuntary manslaughter convictions in the deaths of three babies and a woman at a grisly abortion clinic in Philadelphia. People who support and those who oppose a woman’s right to choose whether or not to have an abortion have been horrified by what happened in Philadelphia. But Stockman shamefully suggests otherwise:

“Despite the blood-soaked horror of Gosnell’s clinic, Democrats refuse to loosen their embrace of unrestricted, unregulated, taxpayer-funded abortion on demand. Democrats do not want abortion to be safe or rare. Democrats oppose even the most basic of health and safety standards for abortion mills. Democrats don’t care how many women are maimed, infected with diseases or die on the routinely-filthy abortion mills. Democrats worship abortion with same fervor the Canaanites worshipped Molech.”

The man is vile.

  1. This abortion clinic has more to do with what happens when abortions are restricted. Desperate women go to back alley clinics and get poor care. This is the reason we need to fund Planned Parenthood which provides quality care for women. When we cut their funding, we get the kind of care in this article.

  2. I have truly come to believe we are being governed by sociopaths. They make it close to impossible for women to obtain reproductive healthcare and then blame Democrats.

  3. It is just too obvious to point out to vile Rep. Stockman that, in fact, it is Republicans who “do not want abortion to be safe or rare,” not Democrats. Republicans are the ones trying in every way they can to restrict access to safe medical abortions. Republicans are the ones who are trying to restrict access to birth control so that abortions will become even more common, not rare. Stockman is surely the Prince of Hypocrites. How does he live with himself?

  4. Texas is one of the most regressed states in the Union. Until the people of this state wake up and VOTE VOTE VOTE and take the govt. back from the extreme right wing nuts that are running it now, they get what they deserve…

  5. My father, a lifelong Democrat, grew up hearing stories about complications and deaths from back-alley abortions from his older sister, who was an ER nurse at Santa Rosa hospital in the late 30’s and early 40’s. He was horrified by the lack of choices for women, and as a result, became a staunch proponent of women’s reproductive freedom. Consequently, I knew about abortion before I knew what sex was. We should remember that not all ‘old men’ oppose abortion rights–some old men brought up enlightened women.

  6. No abortions, no screenings, no family planning, no birth control. Next thing you know women won’t be able to have their own bank accounts, checking accounts, own a car or drive one. Sound Familiar? 15th. century here we come!!!!

  7. There is a relation between the amount of hyperbole and the level of idiocy that exists in a person. Steve Stockman is one such example of this, he shows that the level of idiotic rhetoric that comes from those who are anti-freedom and anti-choice is only secondary to the beliefs based on their buybull.

What is even more evident is that these beliefs restrict the freedoms of others to not believe the way that the fundamentalists do and Steve is no exception to this rule.

  8. Katherine and Jack, isn’t that a bit judgmental, to call someone a wingnut or a sociopath?

This article states that Democrats were horrified at Gosnell. Why would they be horrified if Planned Parenthood does the same thing? (And it does-thousands of babies are slaughtered a day).

Peter, if Dems don’t want abortion anymore than high taxes, why did they behave the way they did at the convention? Shameful! And then try to include God on the platform?

When is it okay to kill a baby?
