He’s too old to have been in school when the Texas State Board of Education passed its 2010 resolution attacking Islam and falsely claiming that history textbooks have an anti-Christian and pro-Muslim bias. But a 24-year-old Texas man has been charged with violating the civil rights of members of a Tennessee mosque.
Talking Points Memo explains the charges against 24-year-old Javier Alan Correa:
Correa allegedly used a cell phone to call the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro and left a message saying there was going to be a bomb in the building on the 10th anniversay of the September 11 terrorist attacks. “Listen up you f***ing Muslim b****es, go back to your f***ing dirty f***ing country, f***ing Muslim fascists, get the f*** out of here,” he allegedly stated.
At least that comment is more succinct than the offensive resolution the State Board of Education adopted.
sad
Oh the hours he and I could spend in deep cerebral discourse. Or we could just keep saying “dude” to one another.
As a Texan, I implore the Texas BOE to adopt a stronger, science based education system for the sake of my small kids and all other Texas kids, so they don’t end up like the poor, vocabulary-deprived, and common sense-deprived Texan featured above.
Do you folks remember that huge Texas accent that Ann Richards had? You would have needed a hot knife to cut it.
The people who are running the anti-Muslim show in Murfreesboro all talk like that. Tennessee people have always been less about talking and more about doing (see Alamo). When crazy Muslims fly airplanes into buildings, it is not enough for Tennessee people to just cheer on the troops headed overseas. Tennessee people are Volunteers who want to go too but cannot for a variety of reasons. Therefore, they have to find a way to “act out” at home what they would rather be doing first hand in the Middle East. So, they go find some poor Muslim guy who is just trying to make it through the day like everyone else—and declare war on him and all the other Muslims he knows in the area.
That’s what is going on, just in case you wanted to know.
Gosh, Charles, that’s quite a theory. But if that 24-yr-old man was so gung-ho to fight Muslims, why didn’t he just visit his U S Army recruiter? I feel sure he could pass the physical. I’d worry, though, if he had to pass a mental exam. He sounds a little bit off.
Odd that it was treated as a civil rights offense, though. You would think it’s more of a terroristic threat…..
Are there no federal terrorism laws that apply? And why didn’t a state (Texas or Tennessee) prosecute? Weird.
Texas legislators should pay closer attention to the words of our Founding Fathers. Oh wait a minute….social conservatives hate the Enlightment, the Age of Reason, because it conflicts with their retarded fundamentalist religious beliefs. Down with Reason! Logic sucks!
“Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting “Jesus Christ,” so that it would read “A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;” the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination.” Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography, in reference to the Virginia Act for Religious Freedom.
