It’s hard to argue that Texas doesn’t have some of the most virulently anti-gay politicians in the nation. Consider, for example, Gov. Rick Perry and Congressman Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert. Our friends at Right Wing Watch have audio clips of both politicians commenting about last week’s decision by the Boy Scouts of America to end the ban on gay scouts. Part of Gov. Perry’s comments:
“I do think that those on that board made a decision that was driven by political correctness, by money and they will look back on it someday and be held accountable, so that day will come and they will stand before their maker and be accountable for the decisions that they made.”
From Congressman Gohmert’s comments:
“You’re going to allow a situation where a seventeen-year-old guy that’s sexually attracted to other guys gets in a little tent with an eleven-year-old new rookie Boy Scout and they spend the night together, night after night at camp? I mean, come on. I thought we were making progress.”
As we’ve said before, some Texas politicians spend a lot of time worrying… Read More
Well, that’s what he said. And no, we have no idea what the hell he meant. But one thing is for sure when Texas Congressman Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert goes on one of his unhinged rants — it will sound like he forgot to take his meds that morning. That’s pretty much the impression he gave on Wednesday during a committee hearing with Attorney General Eric Holder.
The East Texas congressman insisted that law enforcement officials and the Justice Department failed to prevent the Boston Marathon bombing because of “political correctness,” claiming that federal officials harass Christians but are worried about offending Muslims. Attorney General Holder, clearly exasperated by the bizarre attacks, pointed out that Gohmert was woefully misinformed. That brought an even angrier, rambling response from Gohmert. The Republican chairman of the committee tried to restore order as Gohmert charged that Holder was “casting aspersions on my asparagus.” Huh? See for yourself.
Republican Congressman Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert of East Texas is once again showing that he’s a master of reckless smears and idiotic statements in the U.S. House of Representatives. On Thursday, speaking on the radio program for the kooky fringe website World Net Daily, Rep. Gohmert accused the Obama administration of “trying to help terrorists” and charged that the administration is filled with members of the Muslim Brotherhood:
“It’s very clear to everyone but this administration that radical Islam is at war against us. I’m hoping either this administration will wake up, or a new one will come in at the next election before irreparable damage is done. This administration has so many Muslim Brotherhood members that have influence that they just are making wrong decisions for America.”
It’s surprising that someone can stoop so low and stay balanced on two feet. You can read more from the interview on the World Nut Daily website here.
East Texas Congressman Louie “Terror Baby” Gohmert is back in the news, this time comparing proposed limits on high-capacity gun magazines to same-sex marriage and bestiality. It’s a slippery slope, he argues. From Talking Points Memo:
“In fact, I had this discussion with some wonderful, caring Democrats earlier this week on the issue of, well, they said ‘surely you could agree to limit the number of rounds in a magazine, couldn’t you? How would that be problematic?’” Gohmert said on [a conference call with tea party leaders). “And I pointed out, well, once you make it ten, then why would you draw the line at ten? What’s wrong with nine? Or eleven? And the problem is once you draw that limit — it’s kind of like marriage when you say it’s not a man and a woman anymore, then why not have three men and one woman, or four women and one man, or why not somebody has a love for an animal?”
He added, “There is no clear place to draw the line once you eliminate the traditional marriage and it’s the same once you start putting limits on what guns can be used, then… Read More
Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert, the East Texas Republican who thinks our nation’s enemies are coming here to birth babies who will grow up to commit domestic terror attacks, has a new argument against gun laws: stopping Islamic law! Rep. Gohmert had this to say today on the web-radio show The Voice of Freedom:
“[The Second Amendment] is for our protection and the Founders’ quotes make that very, very clear. Including against a government that would run amuck. We’ve got some people that think Sharia law should be the law of the land — forget the Constitution. But the guns are there, that Second Amendment is there, to make sure all of the rest of the amendments are followed.”
