In an e-mail to right-wing activists today, Texas Eagle Forum is lying again about legislation the group says would protect Texas from Sharia law:
Decisions are being made by some US courts based on that Sharia law rather than US or state laws. The UK has 85 Sharia courts that have the same authority as the UK common law courts (an incompatible parallel system.) We do not want to see that happen in the US.
We told you about those bills earlier this month. Texas Eagle Forum is treating its own activists like imbeciles. The truth is that there is no chance of “Sharia courts” being imposed on Americans. The U.S. Constitution forbids it (the same Constitution that protects religious freedom for everyone, not just the extremists at Texas Eagle Forum).
This really isn’t about “Sharia law” in America. Texas Eagle Forum is simply stirring up hate and prejudice against a minority religious group. This is the same kind of bigotry that for decades was directed (and sometimes still is) at Roman Catholics and Jews in this country. Similar tactics, different target.
I know that the Eagle Forum drivel about the US is complete and utter bulls***. Dearborn, Michigan, anyone?
I do have a question for others, and it is a question borne of ignorance (I have never been to the UK): does any such “courts” exist in England? I personally have my doubts (no, that’s not a Trumpism!) but you never know until you ask.

Unlike the hyeria over Jews, the Shariah hysteria has it’s roots in the politics of the survival of the State of Israel. Adherents of the hysteria against Islam, Muslims, and Islamic law include the Left Behind belief structure also called Pre-Millenial Dispensationalism, a belief that the Second Coming will not happen until Israel is united.
Included in the alliance for hysteria are:
1. Center for Security Policy headed by Frank Gaffney.
2. Society of Americans for National Existence (SANE) headlined by David Yerushalim,
3. ACT! for America
4. A big chunk of the Tea Party aggregate.
All of which make Israeli national security as fundamental to the security of America and Christendom.
The cynicism of the Left Behind crew over the unification of Greaer Israel is not only a precondition for the Rapture which is triggered on a treaty with the Muslims aka Satan, but the clear understanding that midway through the ensuing seven year “Tribulation”, all but 144,000 Jews who convert to Christianity are consigned to Hell. In short, Jesus won’t return until the Jews are exterminated (less 144,000 converts)
Once upon a time, I was pro Israel—but not so much anymore. I am pro Jewish instead these days. What changed my mind? It was a series of Wednesday night presentations at our church that were made by our assistant pastor. He is an avid Middle East traveler and very much into the history and geography of the Bible places. I learned a lot in those lectures:
1) Most Jews in the New York City area refuse to have any truck with Zionists.
2) The Zionists in Israel have always treated the native Arabic populations the way the Germans treated the Jews in World War II—more or less.
He showed many specific examples because he has managed to sneak into areas of Israel that the Israeli government steers tourists away from so they will never know the real truth about what goes on in the shadows. The Israelis tell the tourists they cannot go into these areas because they would be in great danger. Our assistant pastor sneaks in and finds wonderfully loving strangers who invite him into their houses for meals. He has never encountered anything that even mildly whispers of any danger in these areas. However, he does see many specific examples of the Israeli oppression that goes on there—which he highlighted in both words and photographs. It was not a pretty sight.
Martin Luther King said that the arc of the universe is long—but it bends towards justice. If Israel does not find a way to be more just with the non-Jews in their midst, there will one day be no Israel. I am not betting on them because—quite frankly—they have a very bad historical track record on staying together and being safe.

HB 911 by state Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, and HB 3027 by state Rep. Randy Weber, R-Pearland, attempt to prevent the imposition of Islamic law in Texas. I would commend them for their concern for the sanctity of our laws except that we and the rest of the 50 states are already protected by a much more robust measure known as the Constitution. Yes, that marvelous document which was read in the U.S. House of Representatives at the opening of the current session already protects us from the imposition of Sharia Law or Jewish Law or rulings by the Catholic Pope.
The First Amendment says in part “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. The Supreme Court has ruled on more than one occasion that this amounts to a separation of church and state. Unfortunately the very same people so concerned about imposition of Sharia Law seek to undermine the protections offered through separation of church and state by claiming that the United State is in fact a Christian nation and our laws are guided by the Bible.
Once we open ourselves to this notion we’re just a step away from the very same type of theocracy that people like Leo Berman and Randy Weber claim they want to protect us from. If you really want to protect Texas and the United States then you must support the Constitution’s protections by supporting separation of church and state.

The gist of the Team B report is that Islam, represented by Shariah is an existential threat to America, and is not protected by the Cosnsitution and adherents of Islam are traitors as are those who support Islam. The recommendations of Team B, are on a par with the draconian measures of the Tokugawa Shoganate in the Isolation of Japan, including the execution of shipwreked sailors on Japanese shores, plus those who help the shipwreked, and those who supported the rescuers,
Not since the Wannsee Konference in Berlin on January 20, 1942 authorizing the Final Solution has there been such a dangerous threat to Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Not since the aborted coup d’etat against FDR in December 1941, a plot made silly by Pearl Harbor, has there been against the Constitution.
What makes this so dangerous is the endorsement of several three star retired military flag ranks including the infamous LTG Boykin of the “My God is better than their God” fame. This raises the risk posed by large standing ground military forces to civil authority, a deep Anglo-American tradition set aside by the military needs posed by a now defunct Cold War.
