John Hagee Doesn't Know How to Share

San Antonio megachurch pastor John Hagee had this to say to nonbelievers in a “War on Christmas” sermon delivered over the holidays:

If you pass a manger scene and someone is singing “Joy to the World,” you can take your Walkman and stuff it into your ears, or you can call your lawyer. Or you can just exercise your right to leave the country. Planes are leaving every hour on the hour, get on one.

Yeah, well, an increasing number of people are taking the first flight out of America’s churches, and pastors like Hagee are a reason why.

But given Hagee’s history, it’s a bit of a surprise that he stopped with atheists. He somehow forgot to tell the Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Mormons, Sikhs, Shintoists, Bahá’ís, Taoists, Rastafarians, Pagans, Flying Spaghetti Monsterists, Jedis and any Christian that wants no part of Hagee’s divisive rhetoric to get out of the country.

Oh, and gay people. Let’s not forget gay people.

Because it’s John Hagee’s Christian nation and the rest of y’all are just here visiting.

  1. Why tarry in a country that has passed you by, atheists? Are there not dirigibles? Are there not horseless carriages? Mayhap you might find adventure and employment on a tramp steamer? The possibilities are endless, in this age of steam and metal.

  2. Tell the bigot to shove it. (I am not atheist. I am just fed up with these a-holes that think they have carte blanche to this country and hide behind religion to be said a-holes)

  3. I believe it was Hagee who referred to the Roman Catholic Church as the “whore of Babylon.”

The fact that this bloviated, ignorant, redneck bigot has a congregation at all is a sad statement.

  4. What’s up with the insignia on his lectern? Looks like it says, “All the People in All the World.” What the heck does that mean? Does he fancy himself a minister to “All the People”?

  5. This guy is everything that is wrong about religion. He completely misunderstands what it means to be an American. I have to leave because I disagree with you? I don’t think so.

  6. Huge BMI, Age 73, looks unhealthy. Texas lost three right wing nutjob billionaires recently, and something tells me this guy is angling to be the caboose on that train.

In fact, if you look all around the nation at the key drivers of the Religious Right, a whole generation is about to find out first-hand just how happy they and their activities really made Jesus feel. If I were the ordinary people of Texas, I would invest in some earplugs because the sound of the explosion and the backdraft might be enough to punch a hole into this world.

  7. When is the IRS going to revoke Hagee’s church nonprofit status. During the 2012 election his church blatantly endorsed Romney. Endorsing politicians is grounds for removal of tax-exempt status. That church is a business and it is making Hagee & his henchmen very wealthy. Make ’em pay taxes.
