Cathie Adams, president of the far-right Texas Eagle Forum, has had more than four years to learn how to spell the name of the president of the United States and still can’t. She still seems more interested in making sure people know that his middle name is Hussein and that she thinks he’s a dirty ol’ MARXIST. From Adams’ front-page article in the group’s November Torch newsletter:
“President Barak Hussein Obama has failed America. His vision for our children and grandchildren is bleak because his worldview is Marxist. He wants to ‘fundamentally transform’ the U.S. socially, economically, and environmentally through global government regulations and control. It is his, and his fellow progressives’, utopian dream, rooted in Marx & Engels’ Communist Manifesto.”
Sigh. “Barak” isn’t a typo. She uses the same incorrect spelling for “Barack” again later in the same article.
Anyway, the rest of the article is a long screed attacking Agenda 21, a non-binding, voluntarily implemented action plan of the United Nations designed to promote sustainable development. Agenda 21 was adopted at the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. Adams claims Agenda 21 is “at the heart” of President Obama’s “worldview” 20 years later. And she thinks it will destroy “liberty, free markets and private property rights”:
“Agenda 21 is the blueprint for sustainable development. Sustainable development is Marxism dressed in a green façade, under the guise of protecting the environment. … Agenda 21’s sustainable development is anti-American.”
You can read the rest of Adams’ screed here (if you really want to). But it’s pretty much the standard anti-environment, anti-UN, whack-a-doodle nonsense we often hear from the far right. Still, after all these years, can’t Adams at least spell President Barack Obama’s name correctly?
She probably misspells it on purpose. The Irony is that she actually spells it Israeli style (see: Ehud Barak).
not much of an argument for her ability to influence educational direction and curriculum content, is it?
Poor Cathy Adams, not to bright is she. Guess she will not be to much of a problem if she is in charge of TFN education.
Cathy ? Too much Rush Limbaugh sweetie.
(You know, Rush. The Missouri State freshman flunk out).
It never amazes me how so many hate mongers like Cathy have created a Cyborg President Obama. It has only passing resemblance to the person or any real person for that matter.
These nutballs like Cathie Adams are always harping about the United Nations because they think it was an organization established by Satan to pave the way for the Anti-Christ and their self-generated spectre known as “one world government,” which will be ruled completely and thoroughly by said Anti-Christ.
Her statements are riddled with code words and phrases that only the freakish far right fringe understands. For example, the phrase “loss of American sovereignty” is a standard code phrase for “reign of the Anti-Christ.” These code words allow people like Cathie Adams to speak to the general public in a language that sounds merely political in nature. However, the nutballs who see the number 666 hiding under every bed in America receive an entirely different message when they hear exactly the same code words and phrases that the general public does.
By the way, Satan’s real name is Cordell Hull. Bet you did not know that.
What is a Marxist? I went to Wikipedia. They say, “Marxism is an economic and sociopolitical worldview and method of socioeconomic inquiry based upon a materialist interpretation of historical development, a dialectical view of social change, and an analysis of class-relations within society and their application in the analysis and critique of the development of capitalism. In the mid-to-late 19th century, the intellectual development of Marxism was pioneered by two German philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marxist analyses and methodologies have influenced multiple political ideologies and social movements throughout history. Marxism encompasses an economic theory, a sociological theory, a philosophical method and a revolutionary view of social change. There is no one definitive Marxist theory; Marxist analysis has been applied to a variety of different subjects and has been modified during the course of its development so that there are multiple Marxist theories.
So my question to that individual is what KIND of Marxist do you think Barack Obama is?
BTW, Barack means “blessed” in Swahili, and in Hebrew, it means lightening or thunder. One of prayers chanted in Synagogues is “barack hashamiym,” meaning the crash of the heavens.
We Americans are free to disagree about many things, no matter how ludicrous or how bigoted and close-minded they might happen to be.
That woman is an obvious bigot and her remarks about our president being a Marxist shows how ignorant she is. One cannot be a “Marxist” without knowing WHICH kind of Marxist one is.
Sigh…
I, personally, adhere to the Chico Marx school of Marxism….
Hers a nice alert for Dan, our worldly and intellectual blogger.
Bogus Louisiana Teacher Survey Used to Support Central Community School System Creationism Policy — and Discovery Institute’s Academic Freedom Laws.
This is a new report by Dr Forrest, the author of “Creationism’s Trojan Horse”. In it, she reveals that 1/2 of 1% of Louisiana teachers were actually consulted about the creationism laws Louisiana has adopted , based partly on what the creationist bloc said was educator support.
And Casey Luskin, one of the DI’s “fellows”, a lawyer dressed in a lab coat, who made these claims, is discreditted once again. Why is this important? Because the DI representatives have been selected by GOP idealogues in years past as “consultants” to the SBOE.
When creationism and intelligent design creationism proponents, whom the Eagle Forum enthusiastically supports, are shown to be fraudulent even about the “surveys” they use to support their deceptive tactics, it is time for SBOE, to get these charlatans away from Texas education.
The result of not doing this, are more Cathy Adams.
Who’s got time to edit for spelling when the Black Helicopters are everywhere?!?
