Strong Progressives Needed at the Legislature, TFN Says

The Texas Freedom Network today announced its endorsement of Candis Houston in the March 1 Democratic primary to represent House District 142 in the Texas Legislature.
Houston spent 13 years with Aldine ISD and is the Aldine American Federation of Teachers president.
“A lot of what the Texas Legislature did last year is extreme, frightening and anti-democratic,” said Corisha Rogers, an organizer for TFN working and living in Houston. “Now, more than ever, we need strong progressives standing as one to hold the line at the Texas Capitol. Candis is the rep we need in House District 142, and we are proud to support her candidacy in the March 1 Democratic primary. We urge Democratic voters to support her, too, when they step into the ballot box.”
TFN is endorsing Houston due to her pledged support for our neighborhood public schools, LGBTQ equality, reproductive and voting rights, and emphasis on addressing our still vulnerable electric grid.
Early voting for the March 1 primary starts on Feb. 14. The winner of the Democratic primary is likely to win in the November general election in this solidly-blue district.
