It’s hard to put into words how we’re all feeling. But we’ll try.
We knew this day would come, but it came so much sooner than we thought possible. Decisively. With a vengeance.
Because of the years you’ve spent voting, volunteering, supporting your neighbors, donating, rallying at the Capitol, testifying at the State Board of Education, showing up at your school board and city council meetings, celebrating the wins, crying at the losses — yes, this is a very long sentence, and yes, we’re okay with it — because of all that and so much more… Texas turned blue.
This isn’t just a historic election or a one-time referendum. It’ll be written into the history books as the result of decades of tireless work and community organizing by millions of Texans like you who never lost hope for a people-powered state.
But we’re not done writing the history books yet. Years of accumulated laws sit on the books right now, restricting our right to live freely and happily, to teach the truth to our children, and to treat every Texan as an equal part of our society. We don’t expect them to go down without a fight, even after a night without precedent in living memory.
So we’ll get ready to fight.
