Barton's 'Winnable' Race

When David Barton broke tea party hearts on Wednesday by telling Glenn Beck he was passing on next year’s race for John Cornyn’s seat in the Senate, he spoke of doing some polling and described the race as “winnable.” If that is in fact the case, then Barton has made the leap from revising history to perhaps outright redefining words.

This is “winnable”?

Of couse, as PPP notes, there was a time when Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst had a big lead on Ted Cruz, and we all know how that turned out.

Here’s the full PPP poll, which includes some other fun info on hypothetical match-ups for Cornyn (v. Gohmert!), as well as some numbers on the general discontent with Texas’ senior senator from within his own party.

  1. I hope Louie Gohmert tries to primary Cornyn. We know Cornyn would beat Gohmert, so Gohmert would be OUT of the House, because he can’t run for two offices at the same time. That would greatly improve the “gene pool” in the Texas Congressional delegation.
