Abortion access and reproductive freedom help everyone thrive.

The Fight for Abortion Access & Reproductive Rights in Texas

What We’re Up Against

When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, they decimated our last nationwide legal line of defense for abortion access.

Texas’s abortion ban is one of the strictest in the country, and the extremists behind it haven’t stopped there. They continue to scheme to block our access to reproductive health care, steal our freedoms, and control our bodies.

IGNORING THE FACTS

Lawmakers used medically inaccurate rhetoric for decades to eventually take away our right to abortion. They’re doing the same to attack things like emergency contraception and access to abortion pills — safe, effective medicines used to treat a variety of gynecological issues.

ENDANGERING LIVES

Because the abortion ban is so vague, the punishment so severe, and the medical exceptions so unclear, people in Texas are being denied abortions even in life-threatening situations. This forces some to flee the state to get care — others do not have the means to do so.

Reproductive Rights Are Human Rights.

Texas Freedom Network advocates for a Texas where all people have the right to bodily autonomy and access to abortion, contraception, and other reproductive health care. Truly equitable communities cannot exist without abortion access and reproductive justice.

TFN’s Abortion & Reproductive Freedom Advocacy

At the
Capitol

In a post-Roe world, TFN fights at the legislature to restore our reproductive rights, regain freedom over our bodies, and build a stigma-free future beyond what Roe protected, where abortion is safe, legal, and accessible for all.

In the Classroom

TFN mobilizes for comprehensive, age-appropriate, inclusive, and scientifically accurate sex education and access to contraceptives to give teens everything they need to prevent pregnancy, make informed decisions, and lead healthy lives.

In the Community

TFN advocates alongside community champions. We helped pass abortion access protections in cities across Texas through the GRACE Act, helped re-establish Austin’s logistical abortion support fund, and educated Amarilloans about the (rejected!) travel ban.
