“The Revisionaries,” the award-winning documentary about the raging textbook wars in Texas, is so popular with audiences that Landmark’s Magnolia Theatre in Dallas is extending the film’s run there through October 18. And the Houston premiere this Friday (October 12) at Sundance Cinemas is nearly sold out.
The film, which exposes efforts byradicals on the State Board of Education to dumb down instruction on evolution and politicize what students learn in their social studies classrooms, won a special Jury Award at the Tribeca Film Festival last spring. The film prominently features Texas Freedom Network President Kathy Miller and TFN’s work to fight back and put education ahead of politics and the “culture wars” in Texas.
The Houston Chronicle’s Lisa Falkenberg calls the film “a must-see for anybody who cares about public education and what … Texas’ 5 million public schoolchildren are learning these days.”
In fact, “The Revisionaries” is the first-ever film to spotlight the politics that surround Texas’ bruising textbook and curriculum battles and take seriously their far-reaching impact on public education across the country. Michael Moore declares that the film is a movie every American should see.
