State Board of Education Endorsements | Other Endorsements

The State Board of Education is a 15-member elected board that controls everything the millions of students in Texas public schools learn, in every subject. The SBOE is meant to use its power responsibly by creating curricula that teach the truth and serve the needs of all Texas students. Instead, its conservative majority tends to push a far-right political agenda. Nowhere was this more obvious than in this year’s high-profile votes to require Bible readings and pass a deeply flawed, Islamophobic, Western-centric social studies curriculum.

Texas voters have made it clear: they’ve had enough of the far right’s attacks on public education. That’s why TFN is endorsing progressive candidates in every SBOE seat that’s up for election in November. Let’s create a board that puts students first!
