Smoke and Mirrors at the Capitol Mean Little Help for Public Schools

Texas Freedom Network President Kathy Miller issued the following statement on the end of the special session on school finance.
“Our state’s leaders must think they are masters of illusion. Just as in the regular session, they offered Texans little more than smoke and mirrors on education. They said they support public education but instead pushed measures to privatize hundreds of schools and dump proven education standards. And they called it “reform” when they worked to protect corporate interests and the wealthy at the expense of working families. As the smoke clears, we are all left wondering if our state leaders really care about good public schools.”
