In Session 2, we covered how to get involved at the local school district level this year in opposition to book banning and education censorship. Folks were able to join the training session most aligned with their current skill level and learn how to level up. We closed out with regional breakouts, allowing advocates to connect with others in their district.

We went over the history of the State Board of Education (SBOE), the key players and their track records, and examined who the SBOE defines as ‘experts’ in the curriculum adoption process. We also hosted a media training for folks who are interested in learning how to prepare for media interviews, convey thoughtful messaging effectively, and respond to common questions and curveballs.
