Texas Freedom Network President Kathy Miller issued the following statement today regarding the filing of a bill (H.B. 2704) by state Rep. Beverly Woolley, R-Houston, on stem cell research. Rep. Woolley’s bill would establish ethical guidelines for research involving both adult and embryonic stem cells while ensuring that scientists have the flexibility to continue this promising medical research in Texas.

“Rep. Woolley’s bill sends a clear message that public health policy should be based on science and hope, not division and politics. It would establish a responsible, ethical policy that encourages promising stem cell research and removes unnecessary obstacles. This is good for Texas and for all of our families looking to the wonders of modern medicine for hope.”
