Louie 'Terror Babies' Gohmert Wonders How Supreme Court Justices Can Support Gay Marriage AND Evolution

In this week’s episode of “The Louie ‘Terror Babies’ Gohmert Files,” the East Texas congressman expresses his rejection of both marriage equality and evolution.

As our friends at Right Wing Watch report, Gohmert — speaking on a right-wing program — went on a rambling diatribe about the Supreme Court’s ruling against the Defense of Marriage Act. At one point he explained that King Solomon would have remained “the wisest man in the history of mankind” if he had just stuck to one wife. And then he dragged evolution into the discussion:

“From a philosophical standpoint, you know, we got intellectuals on the court who are believed to support the idea that evolution is how mankind got here and there is an ongoing evolution occurring. And I can’t just help but wonder, as these brilliant intellectuals have gotten to this point, how marriage between two men fits into the evolving of producing higher offspring that make the species higher and better.”
Ummm.. what?

  1. Louie Gohmert’s statements about evolution and marriage say a lot about the constituents who elected him.

    1. Amen! Amen!! At least they make George W. Bush and Rick Perry — not to mention Dick Army and his even more ancient mentors at least a bit more understandable… they aren’t complete oddballs, after all… just part of a weirder –and, unfortunate for us– far larger tribe than we ever imagined. I’m so glad I wasn’t raised in these parts!

    1. “Big” Louis seems to worry unduly about evolution and bestiality, as do a lot of Bible Belt Republicans. Could it be their sex education was the discovery of the “horny” sections of Levicitus at puberty? They worry as if some of their after-school experiments over at the barn may have gone awry.

      1. Let me moderate my reply by spelling correctly: It’s Leviticus and it’s only for adult reading, since just knowing something makes you want to do it, according to Texas sex education standards.

  2. If Mr. Gohmert would do a little research (or have his staff look into it) he might realize that homosexuality in humans has been been around for many thousands of years. Theories have suggested that it was an “evolutionary brake” that prevented tribes from overpopulating and starving. The “non-breeders” were essential contributors to their respective tribes. Heterosexuals have been passing down “gay” genetic material for a long, long time.

  3. LOL. I can’t stop laughing. Everyone knows that only Jack Daniels makes higher offspring.

  4. I would call Louie Gohmert a halfwit, but that would give him too much credit. He’s just flat out witless.
